Prepare for the Upcoming Career Fairs With These Tips

Happy Friday Noles!

Before we get to the main content of this blog post, I would like to highlight the FSU Food for Thought Pantry once again. If you are facing food insecurity, the Food for Thought Pantry is generally open 12 PM to 5 PM Monday through Friday (for Spring 2021) – be sure to register and find out more information using the site below:

If you are looking to easily donate to the Food for Thought Pantry, they have an Amazon Wishlist that will ship directly to them. The link to their Amazon Wishlist is listed below:

Thank you!

As of the release of this blog post (1/22/2021), we are a little less than a month away from the FSU All Majors Career and Internship Fair on February 18th, and the STEM Career and Internship Fair on February 16th. To help get you prepped, we will go over some tips to ensure that you are ready to get some job offers!

The first step is to register for the Career Fair, which can be done on Nole Network using the link below:

https://www.career.fsu.edu/students/events/seminole-futures-all-majors-career-internship-fair

and

https://www.career.fsu.edu/students/events/stem-career-internship-fair

It is recommended that you have access to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Hangout to be able to get in contact with the employers. For this example, we will be showing off the All Majors Career Fair, but the preparation process is nearly identical no matter which one you attend. There are 55 employers registered for the All Majors event at the time of writing, with some notable names for CCI majors being A-LIGN, Amazon, and L3Harris Technologies. On Nole Network, you can find the full list of employers attending, and I recommend doing some research beforehand to get an idea of the company and its line of work.

You are also going to want a strong resume for the Career Fair. If you need resume, elevator pitch, or interview help – we have a blog post below on using Career Center resources:

https://fsutransfers.wordpress.com/2020/09/25/up-your-interview-game-with-help-from-the-career-center/

To upload your resume and any other relevant information, click on the Chat Profile button, next to the Registration button on the All Majors Career Fair – Nole Network page.

From there you can also update information such as your major and expected graduation date.

Finally, on the day of the Career Fair, be sure to dress professionally! First impressions count, and your wardrobe can say a lot about you. Another Career Center resource I want to show off is the Professionole Clothing Closet, which is an appointment-only place to get nice clothes for your upcoming Career Fair. Be sure to make an appointment early, do not wait until the last minute as we get closer to the Career Fair and it is more difficult to find open time slots!

Thank you, and I know you all will do great at both Career Fairs! If you have any more questions on the resources mentioned in this post, or you have any recommendations for future blog posts, be sure to reach out to us using the Contact Us tab on the top ribbon. Good luck and get that dream job!
