Resources for Students on Campus

Happy Friday everyone, hope all is well!

As a transfer student, there are certain resources for students on campus that you might not know about. However, today I will be going over some of the most important ones that we have on our campus.

To start, the Department of Student Support & Transitions. The Department of Student Support & Transitions supports, connects, and empowers all students as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.

They welcome students and family members to connect with the Department of Student Support & Transitions if you are experiencing a crisis, or just need someone to talk through a problem or experience you are having at Florida State University.

In this department, there are a few different types of services offered:

First, we have Case Management Services. Case Management Services works with individuals to provide emotional support, counseling, advocacy, and identify immediate needs, making appropriate referrals to campus and community resources.

Second, we have Investigations & Assessment; they provides investigative services for allegations of misconduct concerning Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs).

Third, we have New Student & Family Programs; they assist new students and families in their transition to Florida State University through programs like Orientation, Ask a ‘Nole, and Family Connection.

In addition, The Victim Advocate Program, provides free confidential, and compassionate assistance to primary and secondary victims of crime, violence, or abuse against or by Florida State University students through advocacy, education and training.

Another is the Withdrawal Services. The staff provides support to students and their families when a student’s enrollment is unexpectedly interrupted due to unforeseen circumstances (personal, family, medical or mental health reasons, and/or other crisis). Students who must leave during a current semester must officially withdraw (all classes) through the Department of Student Support and Transitions.

Lastly, the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) serves as an advocate for FSU students with disabilities and ensures that reasonable accommodations are provided. Florida State University is committed to providing a quality education to all qualified students and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veterans’ status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or any other legally protected group status. Providing services to more than 5000 students, the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) is committed to ensuring universal access for each Florida State University student. The OAS creates an environment of success through the provision of academic, housing, & dining accommodations, testing support, assistive technologies, and space for students to feel they are part of the FSU community.
